The aim of the Speech and Language Therapy Department is to provide students with scientific knowledge on human communication, voice, speech, spoken and written language, non-verbal communication disorders, and swallowing disorders.
Since the Department’s establishment, more than 2,000 graduates have been working professionally at a national as well as international level, signifying a successful scientific and professional career, thus, demonstrating the high quality of scientific work carried out in this institution throughout all these years.
The graduates of the Speech and Language Therapy Department acquire the certified title “Speech and Language Therapists “, and receive the Speech and Language Therapist License by the Ministry of Health, and can be subsequently employed in the field of Speech Therapy. They have the right to work:
- In the public sector (organizations, schools, hospitals, institutions, mental health centers etc.) and can advance into the administrative hierarchy, according to the provisions in force. They can also be employed at all levels of education, according to the legislation in force.
- In the private sector, under various forms of employment relationships or as self-employed in speech therapy centers and rehabilitation centers. They also have the right to provide home treatment to patients.
They may also set up private speech centers or rehabilitation centers providing rehabilitation services by employing competent professionals, in accordance with the provisions of the current legislation.
The aim of the Department is to provide a high standard of education, research development, and quality health services to the local citizens, as well as to actively engage in public related issues.
