The Center for the Study of the Hellenic Language and Culture (He.La.S.) at the University of Ioannina is an accredited examination center by the Centre for the Greek Language (CGL) of the Ministry of Education, Research and Religious Affairs. It holds annual examinations for the Certificate of Attainment in Greek under the auspices of CGL. The examinations will take place at the International Center of Hellenic Culture & Vocational Training “Stavros Niarchos” at the University Campus on the following dates: 16-17-18/5/2017.
Two new linguistic levels are established by the Presidential Decree 60/30.06.2010 (A1 for children 8-12, for adolescents and adults) and C2 (perfect knowledge) while the current levels renamed as follows: A – A 2 (basic knowledge), B – B1 (moderate knowledge), C – B2 (good knowledge), D – C1 (very good knowledge).
At all levels examined the four language skills i.e. listening, speaking, reading and writing and also the level B2, C1 and C2 has been added another skill “the use of language” With the establishment of new levels and levels of Greek language certificate are assigned completely to the levels outlined in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (K.E.Π.Α.).
He.La.S. also holds examinations for the Certificate of Attainment in Greek for professional purposes, on 16th May 2017 (level A2). They are addressed to professionals and businessmen in the European Union who wish to work in Greece and who need to demonstrate competence in the language. Since June 2012, citizens from non-European Union countries may also participate in these exams under the following conditions: a) they only submit their application form to an examination center in Greece, b) they wish to obtain a professional taxi driver’s license or a professional license to work as freelance nurses. The examinations cover three language skills: Listening, Reading and Speaking. Candidates are not examined on Writing. The examinations are held in November, January and May.
The registration cost for each candidate, per level examination, is 65 € for A1, A2, B1 levels and 73 € for B2, C1 and C2 levels. If a candidate wishes to participate in two levels of examination, (s)he should pay the amount of money which corresponds to each level.
