Senate, Rector, Rector\u2019s Council<\/h4>\n

The University\u2019s administrative bodies operate in accordance with the Institution\u2019s Organization and Internal Operating Regulations<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section>[\/vc_column][vc_column width=”2\/3″][vc_tta_accordion c_icon=”triangle” active_section=”1″][vc_tta_section title=”The Senate” tab_id=”1455791163535-a261fbff-f341″][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

The Senate consists of:<\/strong><\/p>\n

a) the Rector;<\/strong><\/p>\n

b) the Deans;<\/strong><\/p>\n

c) the Heads of the Departments up to two per School, with a non-renewable two-year term of office, by alternating Schools until all Departments of each School have been represented. The Rector shall decide on the Head representation by decision, which shall be issued once;<\/strong><\/p>\n

d) one representative of undergraduate students, one representative of postgraduate students and one representative of doctoral students, if applicable, who shall be elected for one year and are not eligible for re-election;<\/p>\n

e) one representative of each staff category, as provided in articles 28 and 29, for two years and not eligible for re-election, who shall be elected from a single ballot by universal suffrage of the members of the relevant staff category and participate, with voting rights, when the discussion topics are related to matters concerning that specific staff category.<\/p>\n

The exact composition of the Senate and the number of members with voting rights, as well as the requirements and each topic related to the application of the above, are provided in our Institution\u2019s Organization and Internal Operating Regulations.<\/p>\n

The Senate meetings are attended, without voting rights, by the Vice Rectors and the University\u2019s Secretary.<\/p>\n

[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Rector – Vice Rectors” tab_id=”1455791318448-3b58d346-610d”][vc_column_text]The Rector has the following responsibilities and any others as stipulated by the provisions of this law, the Organization and Internal Operating Regulations:<\/p>\n

a) He is the University\u2019s President and Director; he is responsible for the proper function of its service; he supervises that the laws, the Organization and Internal Operating Regulations are respected, and ensures the cooperation between the University\u2019s bodies, teachers and students;<\/p>\n

b) Represents the University judicially and extrajudicially;<\/p>\n

c) Convenes the Senate, prepares the agenda, appoints a Senate member as rapporteur of the agenda items, he chairs its works and recommends agenda items for which he has not appointed another Senate member as rapporteur. Ensures the enforcement of its decisions;<\/p>\n

d) Attends the meetings of the University Council, without a vote He may also attend the meetings held by all other collegiate bodies of the University, without a vote;<\/p>\n

e) Prepares a draft of the Organization and Internal Operating Regulations, and submits them for approval to the University Council, as provided by this law;<\/p>\n

f) Prepares and adjusts the University\u2019s annual regular budget and end-of-year financial results, and the relevant budgets of the public investment programme, and submits them to the Council for approval;<\/p>\n

g) Prepares and adjusts the financial results of the University\u2019s activities and operation in general, and submits them to the Council for approval;<\/p>\n

h) Publishes faculty vacancies;<\/p>\n

i) Issues recruitment acts for the University\u2019s staff and approves the staff\u2019s leaves of absence;<\/p>\n

j) May authorize the heads of the University\u2019s services to sign documents;<\/p>\n

k) May request information and documents by any body, other than the University Council, for any University affair;<\/p>\n

l) Convenes any collegiate body, other than the University Council, when that body fails to make decisions according to the law, and presides over its works without a vote;<\/p>\n

m) Takes specific action to address urgent matters, when the University\u2019s relevant administrative bodies, other than the University Council, fail to function and make decisions;<\/p>\n

n) Is in charge of taking action for the protection and safety of the University staff and property;<\/p>\n

o) Appoints the University\u2019s General Directors;<\/p>\n

p) Allocates funds to the University\u2019s educational, research and other activities under a relevant budgetary planning;<\/p>\n

q) Organizes and repeals Study Programmes by decision issued upon opinion of the Senate and approval by the Council.<\/p>\n

The Rector’s Council consists of the Rector, Vice\u00a0Rectors, a representative of Students, indicated by the total and among Students who participate in the Senate, and the University Secretary rapporteur and voting on administrative, financial and technical issues and for administrative staff issues. In the latter case participate, without voting rights, and representative of the administrative staff. If there is or is absent or indisposed, University Secretary, replacing him in case the competent Director. In the casting position, which voted the rector.<\/p>\n
